Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, a landmark hotel with 261 guest rooms overlooking the River Tyne, required a comprehensive post-construction clean following a full refurbishment. The goal was to ensure all guest rooms were presented to Hilton’s globally recognised brand standards, ready for handover on a tight phased schedule.

Brief

Barn Oak Developments appointed Cklip Commercial Cleaning to carry out a Builders and Sparkle Clean of all guest rooms as part of a phased refurbishment programme. Each floor underwent a 7-week programme combining refurbishment works and final cleaning, requiring close coordination to meet handover deadlines.

The project included:

  • Floors 5–2: 51 rooms per floor, completed in 3 days each
  • 1st floor and 6 ground-floor rooms: completed together in 4 days

A dedicated team of 5 skilled operatives delivered the works efficiently, including internal window cleaning and deep cleaning of skirting boards, ensuring every room was immaculate and ready for operational use.

Site Analysis & Planning

Our Project Manager worked closely with the Site Manager to develop a tailored cleaning programme aligned with the 7-week refurbishment and cleaning cycle per floor. Coordination with other trades was essential to maintain a seamless workflow and avoid delays to the programme.

Given the scale of the project and the phased schedule, careful planning and resource allocation were critical. Initial site assessments focused on understanding the materials, finishes, and fixtures introduced during the refurbishment. This enabled the team to apply the most appropriate cleaning methods, protecting high-quality surfaces while achieving a flawless finish.

Implementation: Works Carried Out

The team focused exclusively on guest bedrooms. Each room was meticulously cleaned, including bathrooms, fixtures, fittings, surfaces, furnishings, internal windows, and skirting boards, which were deep cleaned to remove dust and debris accumulated during construction. All rooms were fitted with brand new carpets, which were carefully and thoroughly vacuumed to remove fine construction dust and ensure they were presented in pristine condition. Special attention was paid to detailed finishes to protect the quality of the refurbishment.

Despite the project’s scale and the extended refurbishment programme, the 5-person team delivered exceptional efficiency, completing floors 5–2 in just 3 days each, and the 1st floor with ground-floor rooms in 4 days, demonstrating both speed and high-quality workmanship.

Review & Handover

The project was completed successfully within the planned programme. Effective planning, proactive site management, and close coordination with other contractors ensured a smooth workflow and minimal disruption.

All rooms were handed over in immaculate condition, fully prepared for reopening. The client expressed high satisfaction with both the quality of the clean and the professionalism of the team.
