Blyth Sports Centre
It was an absolute pleasure to be the cleaning company chosen to deliver the builders clean and sparkle clean for Brims and Blyth Sports Centre, a huge thank you to Peter Springbank and the rest of the team for giving us the opportunity.
Brims were successful in securing a place on the NEPO207 Construction Framework in April 2018. Appointed to Lots 1 & 3 the works cover building construction works in Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and Durham for up to £5 million. Through the framework Brims Construction were appointed as main contractors by Advance Northumberland on the refurbishment of Blyth Sports Centre. The project consisted of the enabling and refurbishment of the existing sports centre, changing rooms and toilets.
Brims Construction has started work on the second phase, the Blyth Sports Centre project will include the creation of a new and improved spa and changing facilities and the reconfiguration of the studios.
Designed and managed by Newcastle based JDDK Architects, the first phase of the scheme, the refurbishment of the swimming pool and changing facilities, was completed before the coronavirus outbreak, opening in early February, but the latest phase of work was delayed by the lockdown.
Funded by Northumberland County Council as part of a £65m countywide investment programme to upgrade and transform sport and leisure facilities, the work will also include construction of a dedicated cycling studio, two additional new studios, a children’s party area and new café and catering facilities.
The second phase is due to complete in summer 2021, with the final works to the soft play and central café facilities together with the integration of the gym to changing rooms and reconfigured reception due to start soon after.
