Following significant investment, Blyth sports centre underwent an extensive three phase, 3-year refurbishment, finally concluding in 2021.

Improvements included, a state-of-the-art gym, a spacious fitness area and two cutting-edge fitness studios, as well as spa facilities and wet and dry changing rooms. The swimming pool and facilities were also modernised, and the reception areas revitalised, with the inclusion of an improved soft play and extended café.

Assignment: Builders clean & sparkle clean of phase 1, swimming pool, changing rooms & toilets and phase 3, reception area, soft play, café and cycling studio.

Brief

Cklip was contracted to carry out the Builders and Sparkle Cleans for two distinct phases of the project. Phase 1, encompassing the swimming pool, changing rooms and toilets, and Phase 3, focusing on the reception area, soft play area, café and cycling studio.

Analysis: Site Visit

During the site visit, Cklip’s project manager assessed the pool hall which underwent extensive refurbishment, including the spectator area, which received new flooring and seating. Additionally, the changing rooms were modernised, featuring new windows and lighting.

The newly designed reception area and adjoining areas also presented unique challenges due to their layout and specific features and unusual material finishes.

Implementation: Works Carried Out

The Phase 1 clean of the poolhall included the extensive deep cleaning of the tile work in the swimming pool itself, the complete removal of grout and plaster residue being essential prior to use in this case. In the changing rooms cisterns, sinks, mirrors and showers were cleaned and highly polished, contributing to a spa like quality throughout.

During phase 3 our team utilised scissor lifts to reach high-level glazing and new light fittings, ensuring that sills and frames were thoroughly cleaned, and gave careful attention to appliances and equipment exteriors.

Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent working conditions on site at the sports centre, the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the Cklip team made the entire process a seamless and successful endeavour.
